Overview

The Wye Valley is set in an area of outstanding natural beauty with amazing landscapes and wildlife. The River Wye is world renowned for its coarse and game fishing. In addition to fishing, the valley is perfect for outdoor activities from walking and horse riding to cycling and canoeing.

The historic towns and cities of Hereford, Ross on Wye, Monmouth, Leominster, and Chepstow are all nestled within this valley.

What's on offer

For those preferring running water the River Wye (134 miles long!) and its many tributaries offers prolific coarse and game fishing for a range of species from specimen barbel and pike through to wild brown trout, grayling and salmon.

For stillwater enthusiasts there are numerous ponds, lakes and gravel pits situated in beautiful surrounding providing both coarse and game fishing.

For the visiting angler, the River Wye has two main operators of day tickets which can all be pre booked online. Day tickets are limited ensuring exclusive fishing for just a few rods each day.

  2. Go to the lookout at Symonds Yat rock to see the peregrines.
  3. Spend a lazy afternoon browsing the book and antique shops in Hay on Wye.
  4. Explore the Forest of Dean.
  5. Enjoy the best of local food and drink whilst overlooking the Wye Valley at the Saracens head, Symonds Yat.
  6. Visit some of the oldest castles and abbeys in the country at Chepstow, Goodrich and Tintern.
