Two bedrooms – one double and one twin room.
Bathroom with WC, bath, and power shower.

Large lounge with log burner, Smart TV and stunning view across the lake.

Private 1.8 acre lake with stock of coarse fish – fishing is free to guests, lovely walk around the lake.
Well behaved dogs allowed – to be kept on a lead around the lakeside area.
Onsite parking for three cars.

One bag of logs provided for log burner in cooler months.

Additional notes:

The accommodation is all on one level. However please note that due to gaps in the natural wood decking, this area may not be suitable to anyone who relies on a walking stick.

While there are a couple of nearby neighbours the cottage, nor the garden are overlooked.

Ty Llyn Cottage is generally an exceptionally quiet location. We do however have to carry out ground’s maintenance around the lake and the surrounding area. As this is often weather dependant it cannot predict when this might be, but we try keep any disturbances to a minimum.

Top 5 things to do nearby

Walk over 8 miles of countryside right from the cottage along bridleways, forest paths and quiet country roads.
Drink at the local pub: The Rhos Yr Hafod, who for the 3 rd time, have won ‘West Wales CAMRA Pub Of The Year’ and is well known for its Welsh Real Ales.
Look for dolphins from New Quay harbour (or take a boat trip), enjoy sea food dining or enjoy an ice cream from New Quays outstanding ice cream parlour.
Visit the harbour towns of Aberaeron and Aberystwyth with their beautiful Georgian buildings and wealth of independent shops, cafes, and eateries…as well as the idyllic harbour setting (great for crabbing!)
Head inland to see stunning valleys and visit some of the iconic local attractions such as Devil's Bridge Falls.

Description

This two-bedroom barn conversion is located in beautiful West Wales, just 12 minutes from the coast and with a stunning view across its own private fishing lake (free for guests). Its secluded location enables you to enjoy the peace and quiet and natural beauty that the countryside has to offer, whilst being central to West Wales attractions and beaches. You can head inland to explore the amazing walks and scenery, from waterfalls to moorland. Alternatively head to the outstanding coastline with secluded sandy beaches, coastal path, and bustling harbours towns such as Aberaeron (15 minutes) or Aberystwyth (30 minutes), all with an array of shops, cafes, restaurants, pubs and family entertainment. The onsite fishing of course is a huge bonus on the cottages own lake and if you want even more fishing options the area is famous for a range of both coarse and game fishing in lake, ponds and the pristine rivers that have a run of salmon and sea trout. Sea fishing is just a short drive away too!

Angling

The cottage has its own 1.8 acre secluded lake stocked with a mix of coarse fish, including carp to over 20lb and tench. Fishing is included in your stay and the best fishing swims are reserved for the cottage's use only (albeit you can fish anywhere on the lake). There are a couple of other nearby cottages who have restricted access but it will still be largely yours.

If you do want to venture further this area is surrounded by a huge amount of coarse, game and sea fishing options. Here you can find huge wild and remote lakes to smaller lakes and ponds offering both coarse and trout fishing. For rivers, this area is simply outstanding for those wanting to fish for salmon, sea trout, brown trout, and grayling. From intimate upland streams to dramatic gorges, the rivers here have the “WOW” factor. A comprehensive guide of the area can be found here but below are a few highlights:

Stillwater coarse and game fisheries

Penuwch Carp Fishiery - carp fishery with fish over 30lb - 10 minutes drive.

Fron farm fishery - trout fishing on 2 lakes - 15 minutes drive.

Nine Oaks Fishery - coarse and trout fishing on 5 lakes – 15 minutes drive.

Glwydwern Trout Fishery – 10 minutes drive.

River game fisheries

Rivers Aeron and Arth – 20 mins from cottage - superb fishing for salmon sea trout and wild brown trout. Day tickets bought via the Aberaeron Town Angling Club. £15 / day or £30 / week (£55 season). Please see here for full details.

River Teifi - Famous river for salmon sea trout and wild brown trout and grayling. Lower beats are just 20 mins from cottage.

Middle beats – Day tickets from Pontarddulais AA Teifi - £15 / 24hrs.
Lower beats - Day tickets from Llandysul Angling Association - £10-25 / day.
Upper beats including headwaters – Day tickets from Tregaron Angling Association – £13/ day or £75 / week.

River Rheidol and Ystwyth - 20-40 minutes away. Salmon and sea trout fishery run by Llanilar Angling Association and Aberystwyth Angling Association – tickets (£20 - 22.50 / day) from the Fishing Passport (here and here)

Sea fishing

For shore fishing you have a choice of locations, but Aberystwyth Harbour is particularly noted. Expect to catch huss, rays, conger, codling, garfish, pollack, pouting, rockling, wrasse, whiting, dabs, gurnard, and cod. Head offshore (2 to 8 hr charters from Newquay Harbour) for the chance of sea bass, rays and even sharks.

The property inside was very clean and welcoming - the main room in the back with large glass windows and a wood burning stove overlooking the lake was the perfect place to relax when not outside fishing. We enjoyed our stay and planning on returning when possible".

"What a fabulous few days we've had. The cottage was better than expected with everything you need and so close to wonderful places like Aberaeron and Newquay. As a family of four, it was perfect. There was a great selection of board games, plenty of time for fishing, a fabulous log burning hot tub, and the beds were really comfortable! All in all, we had the best time and can't to to book again!"
